Shakti

Shakti

Navaratri celebrations have begun across the globe. Why are these nine days important? There are nine planets in this universe. There are also nine holes on our bodies. This Universe came into existence out of the movement of the nine Planets. Likewise, through the nine holes in the body, we get the capacity for action. The planets of the universe and the holes of the body join together to generate Shakti. Shakti means energy, the Female aspect. Navaratri is meant to worship that Shakti in the form of woman. Only a woman bears the Universe and only a woman bears the fetus in the womb. To appreciate that greatness of woman we have nine days celebration to give importance to every detail.

The house where a woman weeps will meet utter destruction. Seeta’s cry destroyed Lanka. Ayodhya also suffered by Seeta’s cry. In Mahabharata, Draupadi’s cry brought war. Any injustice to women – where a woman weeps, where a woman is not happy, there nothing exists. Therefore, Navaratri is to bring joy to that Shakti. At the end, Dashami is indicative of nine months pregnancy and delivery on the tenth month. Only a woman can deliver a child on the tenth month. Dashami is to celebrate that success; the start of a new life.
