
18 Apr Vedic mantras echo in Asante Kingdom, Africa
Sri Jayanthi Kumaraswami was the chief guest at a series of events in Africa in Her first visit to the continent. Her Holiness delivered the feature addresses at both the 1st Memorial Lecture and special memorial service in observance of the 1st Anniversary of the Attainment of Mahasamadhi of the first African Hindu monk, Swami Ghananand Saraswati.
LECTURE AND MEMORIAL SERVICE
Swamiji made a presentation entitled, “How to achieve true prosperity through oneness”. After literary contributions made by others such as the High Commissioner of India to Ghana, the Head of Religious Studies at the the University of Ghana and representatives from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Swamiji offered Her powerful address. She focused on the two main “eyes” of life; decision making and presence of mind. She also reminded participants, “The Sun is the God in front of our eyes. He never discriminates. He gives light to everyone regardless of religion and race.”
MEETING WITH OTUMFUO OSEI TUTU II ASANTEHENE
Swamiji was warmly welcomed at the Asante Kingdom by; ruler of Ashanti and Ashantiland and the Empire of Ashanti, absolute monarch and head of the Ashanti royal House of Oyoko. During their meeting, Swamiji chanted mantras to bless the King, his Kingdom and the people of Ghana. After which the Asantehene declared that he has adopted Swamiji into his kingdom and bestowed upon her in the presence of his ministers, the name of one of the most important women of the soil “Yaa Asantewaa”. Ya Asantewaa was a Queen Mother who led the war against the British to protect the Asante Empire in the Asante-British “War of the Golden Stool”.
After receiving this esteemed title, Sri Swamiji assured the King that She will continue to serve the people of Africa and bring them onto the righteous path of spirituality. This the first time Vedic mantras were chanted in an African Kingdom. It is also the first time an African King honored an Indian Saint with such a great title.
INTRODUCING SRI SWAMIJI’S UNIVERSAL MEDITATION
As part of Her Universal Meditation program, Swamiji introduced for the first time in Ghana, Mudra Meditation. She led a large group of devotees through a 3 hour meditation session on two consecutive days. These sessions included healing and relaxation, and practices to control anger and unwanted excessive sexual desires.
SATSANGH
Swamiji answered hundreds of questions relating to Hinduism, spiritual practice, oneness and other important topics during a series of interactive question and answer sessions.
PERSONAL DARSHAN & MEDIA COVERAGE
Devotees were given the opportunity to sit for personal meetings with Swamiji to consult with Her and receive Her blessings and advice on sensitive issues they face.
During Swamiji’s visit,devotees and seekers of spirituality developed a divine connection with Swamiji. Their love and devotion offered to Her is indeed remarkable and it invigorates their passion to upkeep Her mission to spread love and kindness throughout the World.
